I am a 15 year old sophomore attending Denver Academy of Torah High School (DAT) in Denver, Colorado.
I've always loved helping others. I have been a mother's helper, provided free babysitting services to parents in need, visited old age homes, and have volunteered with an organization that does programming with developmentally challenged children. Whenever there is an opportunity to help others, I enjoy getting involved!
This is a big reason why I am raising money to go on NCSY GIVE (Girls Israel Volunteer Experience). GIVE is a 5 week Israel summer program that gives high school girls like me the opportunity to travel to Israel and experience hands-on Judaism through the art of giving back.
On GIVE, we visit many chesed organizations and experience firsthand what it means to be a responsible member of the Jewish people by helping those in need. From soup kitchens to medical clowning, greeting a Nefesh B’Nefesh flight to painting kindergartens in underprivileged communities, GIVErs are able to contribute to the many needs of those Jews living in Israel.
At the same time, being a GIVE participant would allow to me to visit Israel - my homeland - for the first time. The experience of touring Israel while being able to help the people who live there is an incredible way for me to grow as a young Jewish woman and contribute to the greater Jewish community.
I currently participate in Denver NCSY's twice weekly Lattes 'n' Learning program and have full intentions of continuing to do so for the remainder of the school year. In addition I am committing to learn for NCSY's Learn 4 Summer program in hopes of raising much needed funds for me to make this summer experience a reality. Any donation that you can make to my Learn 4 Summer program would be greatly appreciated.
As a token of my appreciation for your donation, I will gladly say a prayer and tehilim (Psalms) while I am the Kotel (Western Wall) for you, your family, or any person that you would like me to.
